Clawfoot Tub - White or Color?

We are finally at the fun part of our home renovation - selecting a color palette. Our current focus is the larger bathroom, which has 2 focal points - an exposed brick wall and a clawfoot tub. What are your thoughts - leave the exterior of the claw foot tub white? Or paint the exterior of the claw foot tub to match the wall color, which is "Beachglass" (a soft shade of blue/gray/green)? Please share your thoughts/opinions - all comments are very much appreciated!

  2. over from MODG, and I would paint the tub one shade darker than the wall, if the room is large, and one shade lighter than the wall if it is on the small side.

I can do this so easily for others, but can't pick my own when it comes to my house :( weird..

  4. Love the idea of painting it! Maybe a grey? No exact to the wall color, but matches? :)

  5. I never even knew that you could paint a tub...great idea...and it looks so chic...

I say go for it, paint it...I think in decorating I tend to get fearful of making mistakes and I miss out on all my creativity...have fun with your home, I think it will make you smile every day to see the results and to know that you took a risk and it was everything you wanted!

    Good luck~

  7. Love this idea- Paint it!! Maybe chalkboard paint- that what I did in my bathroom- well on the door- that way I can jotted down items for my shopping list. Grey would be another color for your bath tub

  11. I think my first question would be, how hard is it to change that color? Is it easy to strip?

If it is and easy change than do the color.

But if it is not easy...stay with the white.

Because a tub is a permanent fixture and I know in my bathrooms I've changed the color so much through the years.

  16. Oh boy. Any clawfoot tub will make my day!

I would stick with white, or even the neutral color that you have going on now, just to stay classic. Besides, I think it will go better with the brick. That way, you can dress up the curtains, sink or vanity with some color, and not be stuck with it if you decide to make a change.

Lucky you! What a great predicament to be in!

  18. While I think the painted tubs look really cool in these photos, I'd have to stick with the classic white myself. I just think it always looks fresh and classic. :)

I'm sure it will be gorgeous and look forward to seeing what you decide!
